How to set your Targeting

Setting up the right Targets is one of the most important steps in growing your account with Kenji. It tells the system who to engage with so you’re reaching the kind of followers you actually want for your account. You must set your targeting in order for your growth to start. - Go to the Targeting tab inside your Kenji dashboard - Click “Add Target” You can choose between: Accounts: When you add a Target account, Kenji looks at its followers and starts engaging with them. If your content is in a similar niche, there’s a strong chance those users will follow you back and interact with your posts. Hashtags: When you add a hashtag, Kenji finds and interacts with users who have recently used it in their posts. This is a smart way to reach people already engaging with content in your niche, especially if the hashtags are relevant to your industry or competitors. Best Practices - Choose Targets with 20K to 250K followers - Monitor your Followback rates % (you’ll find this next to every target) - A good rate is 10% or higher - Replace any low-performing Targets regularly - Use Filters to narrow your audience by things like post count or public/private account status We recommend starting with 10–15 relevant Targets. The more aligned they are with your brand or content, the better your results will be. You can check out our detailed guide here. 👈🏼 Archiving Targets You can archive any Target you’re not currently using. This pauses engagement but keeps your performance data saved! To archive: - Click on a Target - Select “Archive” You can restore it anytime from the Archived section by hitting “Restore”.

How to filter your audience?

Filters help Kenji focus on the right users. Instead of interacting with every account in your Targets, you can set a few simple rules to narrow things down. That way, you’re engaging with people who are more likely to follow you and actually care about your content. Where to Find Your Filters Head to the Targeting section in your dashboard and hit the Filters button. You’ll see a set of options you can adjust based on the type of audience you want to reach. What you can filter 1. Followers Set a follower range for the users Kenji should engage with. Accounts with smaller followings are more likely to notice new follows. If someone has over 2,000 followers, they might not even see the notification, and that usually means lower chances of a followback. 2. Following This one controls how many people your targets are already following. If someone follows thousands of accounts, your follow is more likely to get lost in the mix. 3. Media This filter helps skip over empty or inactive profiles. Set a minimum number of posts so Kenji focuses on users who are still active on the platform. 4. Account Privacy You can choose to target public accounts, private ones, or both. Private users tend to have higher engagement, but some filters (like media count) don’t apply to them. 5. Allowed Content If your niche allows for it, you can include NSFW or adult content accounts. It’s off by default, but you can turn it on if needed. Reset to Defaults Want to undo everything and go back to the recommended setup? Just click Magic Filters. These default settings are based on what usually works best for most Kenji users. Why Filters Matter Filters give you more control over who you’re reaching. If you’re focused on quality instead of just numbers, this is the place to fine-tune your strategy. A few smart changes here can make a big difference in who Kenji ends up seeing and interacting with.

How to set up your first Instagram Account?

Welcome to Kenji — let’s get you growing! Setting up your account takes just a few minutes and can be done right from your dashboard. Before we begin, make sure you’re logged into your Kenji account so you can follow along. 1. Connect your Instagram account The first step is connecting your Instagram account to Kenji. This allows our system to start working on your behalf. You’ll see a red banner at the top of your dashboard with a “Connect Account” button. Click that to open a secure login window. A popup will appear asking you to log in to your Instagram. If Instagram asks you to confirm the login, make sure to tap “This Was Me.” This is just a standard security step since Kenji’s servers are located in Europe (Belgrade, Serbia), so the login may look unfamiliar to Instagram at first. Once confirmed, you’ll be redirected back to the dashboard and officially connected. 2. Set up your Targeting Targets tell Kenji what kind of followers you want to attract. These are accounts and hashtags that your ideal audience already follows or engages with. You can add targets by clicking the “Add Target” button on your dashboard. Start off by adding about 10-15 targets by clicking the Add Target button: There are two types of Targets you can go for: - Account Targeting 🔍 Kenji will interact with users who follow the account you’ve added. This works best when you target similar creators, influencers, or brands in your space. - Hashtag Targeting #️⃣ Kenji will find and engage with users who have used that hashtag in a recent post. Choose hashtags your audience is likely to use, not just ones you like. The more specific, the better. Want help picking the right Targets? Here’s a full guide on how to set up your targeting. 3. What to do before using Kenji?

Before anything happens, it’s a good idea to get your account in shape. Doesn’t have to be perfect, just enough to look real, active, and worth following. That sets Kenji up to work more smoothly and helps avoid problems with Instagram flagging anything. 1. Get Moving Manually If your account is brand-new or you haven’t touched it in a while...don’t just fire things up out of nowhere. Instagram watches for sudden bursts of activity, especially on inactive or new accounts. It helps to spend a few days engaging like a real person. Here’s what that looks like: - Like and comment on a few posts in your niche daily - Follow some accounts you actually find interesting - Answer any DMs or comments that show up in the meantime You don’t have to go overboard. Just make it clear the account is being used before Kenji starts doing the rest. 2. Add Content That Tells People Who You Are Think about what someone sees when they land on your profile. If there’s nothing there or it doesn't feel amusing...they’ll bounce. You don’t need a grid full of magazine-level photography. But before letting Kenji run, try posting at least 9 to 12 solid pieces of content. Photos, short videos, carousels — whatever fits. The point is to give people a reason to follow you when they check out your page. 3. Clean Up Your Profile This is the first thing people see, and it’s where most will decide if they follow you or not. Make sure you’ve got: - A profile picture that makes sense for your brand or style - A clear bio that tells people what to expect - Some interesting Highlights with designed covers (it's optional, but it adds the professional vibe to it) It doesn’t have to be complicated — just don’t leave it empty. 4. Post Regularly Instagram favors active accounts. So do real people. If someone checks out your page and it’s been weeks since your last post, you’re probably not going to keep them around. Here’s the simple version: - Try to post at least twice a week (three times would be better, but we're not pushing it) - Jump into comments or DMs if people reach out - Post Stories even on days you’re not uploading to your feed That kind of consistency gives Kenji more to work with, and it keeps your page feeling alive. Quick Heads-Up Kenji doesn’t rush. It starts off slow to keep things safe. If you’ve had issues before or just want a softer start, send us a quick message, and we’ll tweak your settings for you.
