Not sure who to target? You don’t have to figure it out on your own. Kenji gives you a running list of suggestions based on what’s already working for other accounts like yours.
It’s not random, either. These suggestions come from real data as we look at what kinds of accounts drive solid engagement across different industries and use that to guide your setup.
How Suggested Targeting Works
Targeting Suggestions will show up automatically every time you add any targets to your account.
Go to your Targeting tab and click Add Target. Targeting Suggestions will show up automatically every time you add any targets to your account. These might be creators, brands, or competitors that already have the kind of audience you’re after.
These suggestions are categorized into dozens of different groups, all of which are decided by Instagram directly.
We automatically detect which niche your account belongs to and only show you suggested targets that fit that specific niche. Of course, if your brand focus has shifted or you believe your account belongs to a different niche, updating your category in the dashboard will help refine future suggestions.
Important things to note
Targeting Suggestions is a feature that works straight out of the box, but there are still a few things to keep in mind when using it:
-
The system updates suggestions based on what’s working, not where accounts are located
-
You’re not locked into anything — remove or replace targets whenever you want
-
New suggestions show up often, so it’s worth checking back every now and then
